Ties That Bind Us
Earlier this month, I started developing a new project in my studio in Ytre Arna, Norway. I seem to have several projects on the go at the moment, so I’m glad to be able to develop them slowly.
Ties That Bind Us will invite the public to create a visual installation of disassembled neckties while sharing their thoughts, ideas, and stories on the topic of boys and men.
The Requirement
As well as continuing development on Lapsing, Songs We Sing and a number of other projects (large and small), I’ve started work on a new piece called The Requirement. Read more about it here.
Nordic Summer University
I’ve just returned from a week at the Nordic Summer University in Palanga, Lithuania, where I took part in the Circle 7 research group - The experiential in artistic practice and research: methods, knowledges and reflective processes. Topic: Experiential Cognition in Artistic Research.
Songs We Sing
I’ve just uploaded some audio to Soundcloud. It’s a version of “Nature Boy” that harmonium player Hans Knut Sveen and I made a few months back - one take, nothing fancy, but I like it. And it’s available for people to download and rework, as part of our Songs We Sing project.
Drawing and thinking
Welcome to my notebook. This is where I’ll be keeping and sharing notes on stuff I’m trying out, things I collate, thoughts, ideas and observations.
Here’s an image I was working on in my studio yesterday. It’s part of an ongoing series I’m making as I travel the 91 bus route from Sletta bus stop in Ytre Arna to Indre Arna train station.
For a while now, drawing, working with colour and with my hands seems to have been a useful way for me to think.
